Accessibility statement

How noseandsinus.md is designed to work for as many people as possible, and what to do if you hit a barrier.

What we aim for

This site targets conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 at level AA. That means we work to make the site usable by people with a range of impairments, including visual, hearing, motor and cognitive differences.

What we have done

  • Semantic HTML headings and landmarks, so a screen reader can navigate the page structure
  • Plain-language patient information, written at general-reading level rather than clinician level
  • Sufficient contrast between text and background in the colour palette
  • Alt text on informative images
  • Keyboard-accessible navigation and a skip-to-content link at the top of every page
  • Responsive layout that adapts to mobile, tablet and desktop without horizontal scrolling
  • External links open in a new tab with the source page preserved, with the new-tab behaviour announced to assistive technology

Known limitations

An embedded Google Map appears on the contact page. The map itself is provided by a third party and we cannot guarantee its accessibility. The address is also published as text on the same page, so the location information is available without using the map.

An embedded patient-reviews widget appears in the footer. The widget is provided by a third party and may not fully conform to WCAG. The information it carries (reviews of the practice) is not essential to using the rest of the site.

The third-party online booking system (Semble) used for booking consultations is reached by an external link; its accessibility is the responsibility of the provider.

If you find a barrier

If you have trouble using any part of noseandsinus.md, or you have a suggestion for improving accessibility, please email office@noseandsinus.md or call 020 7435 8171. We will aim to respond within five working days and to fix or work around the issue where we can.

Date and review

This statement was prepared on the date of site launch and will be reviewed at least annually, or sooner if significant changes are made to the site.
