Nasal polyps and biologic treatment

Medical and biologic therapy for nasal polyps, with surgery where needed.

Nasal polyps are soft swellings of the lining of the nose and sinuses that can block the nose and reduce the sense of smell. They are driven by inflammation, so treatment aims to control that inflammation as well as to clear the blockage.

Treatment options

  • Nasal steroid sprays and rinses
  • A course of medication to shrink polyps
  • Biologic therapy (omalizumab, dupilumab or tezepelumab) for suitable patients
  • Day-case endoscopic sinus surgery where needed

A specialist interest

Mr Gane has a clinical and research interest in nasal polyps and the modern biologic treatments for them, including omalizumab, dupilumab and tezepelumab. He can advise on whether these options are appropriate for you, and which one fits your particular disease pattern.
